You know, I used to see that window way too often before, but I managed to find the cause and the problem.
Do you have an nVidia GFX card? Does your motherboard has an onboard audiochip? If so, you may be suffering from the same issues my computer was having.

Check this support thread. http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=59211

I used to have a lot of HL2.exe has crashed (with crazy loud sound loop) after playing for like 20min. Since I followed the instructions above, I don't have this problem anymore. Maybe it can help you guys too.

If it doesn't, there might be some other things you could try...

Oh man, you got me all excited there. But I have a 260, which doesn't have an onboard audio controller. :'(

Make sure you disable multi-core rendering under video advanced options.  Lots of games that use the same engine suffer from the same issue and can be fixed by doing so.

Let me know if it works.

That actually solves the issue 100% for me.  I've done extensive research on GTX 260 and everything just points to something with that card not being happy with TF2.  I have days where I crash every half hour and then I have days where I don't crash until after 2 hours it's random.  Really annoying cause with games taht demand more resources or whatever I never crash.

Done, thank you. Let's see how it goes.
