Sup, I'm Spiritwind. Although I'm not much of a fan of TF2, I greatly enjoy the community NS2 server.

Played Jambi on another server last night; and it joined fine. I'll test it as soon as I see a free slot and the server on Jambi and let you know the results

Servers Feedback / Re: Lag Feedback« on: August 08, 2013, 08:40:22 PM »
Well, the host I personally use is Nfoservers.com;
I have the 10 core VDS package you can see from this link. http://www.nfoservers.com/order-virtual-dedicated-server.php Its a bit spendy, but the processor is top knotch quality (Couldent tell you exactly what it is, but when I looked it up its price on newegg was $1800. Using that package I ran 2 Garrys Mod Servers, 1 Tf2 Servers, and 2 Minecraft Servers with top knotch performance on all of them (None of the 10 cores reaching over 80% usage). Right now the price of that package might not be feasable for you guys however, but if you are looking into expanding in the near future, I would definently check them out. I presumed it was just the client that was not Linux Compatible, I was not aware the dedicated server was not linux compatible (Guess thats another reason my community should not look into the ns2 route). Yeah, @ $50 a month, a Ns2 server dosent sound very appealing, since custom cotent/sup perks aren't very viable in ns2. 4

Alright, as I said before, I'm not familiar with Natural Selection 2 Servers, but I run quite a few servers in other games.
Is your vds running under linux or windows? Since I see quite a few servers that lag, I'm going to also assume NS2 is single threaded on the server side. Have you tried dedicating each server to a certain thread or core on the processor? NS2 and TF2 isn't very ram extensive, so its probably not a problem in that area. I would check the ghost processes on the server, clear out as much as you can without removing essential things. I *could* see if I have enough room on my VDS to support your NS2 server, however the only problem with that is the time it'd take to make it so that you guys only had access to the ftp for that - and ssh commands that are only needed for the NS2 server. If you want to talk more about this route, send me a pm. 5

I wonder if this could be related to the performance issues.

Servers Feedback / Re: Lag Feedback« on: August 07, 2013, 10:20:06 AM »
Been getting some lag the last couple days, mainly starting after 15 minutes of round time; and increases as the round time increases.
Lag started at 15 minutes, grew very bad (Nearly unplayable) at around 25 minutes. 7

Yeah, even after I downloaded it manually from the workshop it'd still kick me for missing mods. It was pretty strange :p.

In my experiance you just need a couple individuals that will get on for 20-30 minutes when they see it empty. Once it has a couple people in it, usually it kicks right off from there (Thus the reason you hardly ever see servers with only 1-5 players, and when you do it usually fills up quickly.

Hmm, I havent gotten to play on a server with Jambi yet, but I noticed Hyperion was just on Jambi, and tried to join.
For some reason it kicks me for 'missing required mod'. Might need to look into this .Update: Must be something with me, even after downloading it (And all the other Mods you guys have on there) from workshop and enabling them, it still says missing required mods .Update2: Server just changed from Jambi, working fine now... 10

Awesome, good to hear that you guys are working on it, as well as knowing what your doing.
For new features and whatnot, I think things are good just the way they are. So far the only real problem is just getting a slot on your server, which is really good for you guys .Edit: As far as maps go, I find that when a server has a custom map, it hardly ever gets played. This is quite sad, as I know the NS2 dev team spent a lot of time making it so people could get creative with their mapper. Stuck trying to join the server now . Have you guys thought of whether it would be profitable or within reason to create a second Hyperion NS2 server? If you don't mind my asking; do you know the cpu and ram usage for an active ns2 server?

Awesome to see you guys are looking into it.
Personally, the best Reserved Slot system I've seen for Natural Selection 2 is pretty much like you said without the password, 20 slot server with 2 slots for supporters/admins. The server kicks them if there is over 18 people and their not in the supporter list. I'm personally not familiar with the server side of Natural Selection, I've only worked on Source Game and Minecraft Servers, so I coulden't exactly tell yo what there is that can be offered. For the NS2 devs, I would recommend the regular official reserved slot system I've seen on other games; The server says there are only 18 players allowed, but at 18 supporters can still join (Up to 20). So it'll say 20/18 instead of having it at 18/20 and people getitng pissed because they get booted after waiting for the game to load. I know right now I'd love to be playing on your server, but sadly its full .12

Hey Guys,
I was wondering if you have looked into ns2 supporter perks? I love your server, but I can hardly ever seem to get on, so it'd be completely awesome if you offered Reserved Slots! 13
