Title: New Paylod Map

I just want to thank Dave, Plasma and the rest of the admin team for welcoming us new admins to the Hyperion family.

Now onto the reason I'm posting. I know we are always looking for new maps to keep the server interesting. Here is one I found the other day and it plays pretty well. Just like to see what the rest of the community thinks. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I guess we can add the map to the PL server rotation, and see if players like it. It will have to wait until I come back from my trip though!

hi
ok I know i don't spend much time trawling the forum but after many 100s of hours of playing here i am ready to suggest a few new maps:
dust-bowl payload (easy to find on the net)

night fall and pipeline

the dust-bowl one is really fun as is night fall pipeline would be something different just need the regulars to stick with it as it can be fun

just my opinion feel free to disagree :-)

I'd love to see new stuff myself. I'm just getting tired of the same ol same ol.

If I play Goldrush 1 more time I may have to kill cute things. I prefer when the customs come up, but a lot of the time it's just the same stock maps for several votes in a row.

Please do consider the addition of some new stuff, it would be greatly appreciated!!

The 2nd server should go back to PL only.  If it is possible please make the 2nd server goldrush and badwater only.  I would like to play more custom maps on server 1 as well.

Is there a payload version of Dustbowl? I've only ever played it as a cp map.

New maps are good but discouraging badwater and goldrush by limiting play times in a day is pretty bad IMO. Those maps are not bad or repetitive. I even see a server full of veterans where goldrush or badwater is still being picked. Yes new custom maps are fresh but no way even close to being as good as badwater or goldrush.

Badwater isn't a bad map, I'm just bored of it.

Goldrush, not a fan, but it was not always that way. Like Badwater, I've just played it waaaaay too much and it's not as good as Badwater. I'll take Badwater over Guldrush any day.

Dustbowl payload is a great map. It's set up to have flags captured sequentially anyway so it leads itself to a really fun payload map as well.

Sativa's suggestion of everest is another fun map I'd like to see.

Enforcer also has some good suggestions. The two he mentioned are slightly different in that there are two carts pushed simultaneously or one cart that can be pushed by both teams. Dustbowl CP, Pipeline, Nightfall, and any other new maps on the rotation would be a fresh relief. I still like what's on there, but the rotation is rather small as a whole so it's good to get something new in there. We can always take things off if they're disliked.

New custom maps are still planned to be added. I've been a bit busy, but they're coming.

PLR maps like pipelien and nightfall though... I don't think so. We had them in the rotation before, and with 32 players, it's just a mess. It can be fun for a round or two, but it's way too crowded. Plus, nobody wanted to play the maps anyway.

People have been asking in game about the latest official addition and if it will get added. I looked and it was not added to the server by default.

Can we add pl_cactuscanyon  to the map chooser please? (I can't even select it manually, it's simply not there.)

I agree, would love to see these new maps in the rotation as I'm sure many others would also. It has been quite some time since a new map has been played on the server, Barnblitz pro being the latest I can think of, which still can't be voted for unfortunately. Stock Barnblitz is quite awful.

As I already posted, we might have to have both versions of Barnblitz on the rotation due to the way our custom map chooser is designed. I can try to think of some kind of fix, but in the meantime, it will be easier to just have both at the same time.

New customs are coming, just need to find a good balance. Adding too many new maps too quickly could have a negative effect on player traffic. At the same time, you guys are obviously (and for the good reasons) bored of the same maps, so we need to install new ones, that's for sure.

Some current customs will be removed (those that are unpopular/gets no vote/empties the server,etc...)  and new ones will be added, maybe not all at once though.

New custom maps have been added. They're on the Payload server, but not available in the mapchooser yet. We're still working on that. Hoping to have them ready tomorrow or Thursday. In the meantime, you can see the new Rotation here: http://hyperiongaming.org/index.php?topic=539.0

As you can see, 7 new maps have been added, and 3 were removed (pl_deadwood, pl_metropolis_b5 and pl_manngrove_rc5). Barnblitz_pro has been added as well, but we might have to keep the official version in the rotation (easiest solution, but we might be able to replace the official version with the pro completely).

Unfortunately, with yesterday's patch Valve once again managed to add some weird specific crash that only affects the Payload server. Sometimes I get paranoid, and feel like they're looking for ways to make me mad. Seriously, a crash that only affects servers running a specific OS version and run only PL maps. ;)

That crash was happening on every single map change, so we've been forced to play a looot more badwater than the daily dose prescribed by FDA. However, since Thursday, the new custom maps have been added to the mapchooser, and should now show up during map votes.

Please bear in mind that the mapchooser won't pick all the new custom maps in a row. It depends on time of day, number of players currently on the server and the last few maps played. Best time for custom maps is prime time in the evening.

I'd like to try to keep all maps suggestions and feedback in the same thread, as we already have a few different topics talking about the same thing scattered around the boards.
