Maps... The Everlong Battle.
« on: October 18, 2015, 01:41:13 PM »
I know there are some of us who want new maps and then others of us who strongly dislike playing new maps. With that said, if it is possible, I think it would be a good idea to do maybe a month or two test run of designating a certain time and day each week to testing out new maps that may and/or may not be on the official rotation. For instance, say on Saturday evenings from 4:00pm to 6:30pm or so, each week, the server runs new maps and then we have a feedback and voting system on Hyperion, NOT on the server because that shit is annoying and no one will want to take it seriously; or we could have the admins at that time take a general consensus and report back on Hyperion to see which maps are interesting (and for what reasons) and which maps absolutely blow (and for what reasons). Just an idea. Please comment if you have a better thought on it or a better plan for it.

I like the idea, some maps right off the top of my head that shouldn't even be tested because they're so unbalanced: Manngrove, Deadwood, great heights, pharaoh, and wintertown (basically a prophunt map with 30 second respawns for red). All these maps are pretty unbalanced and seem unfinished, manngrove and deadwood were removed from the voting all together back when we had the old voting system so idk why they're back on it.
"But if you were right and someone was using a bot then recording a demo and posting it here and having someone experienced review it tick by tick would reveal that bot and you could "catch" me."
"I was never kicked from the server?"

It's a good idea, and that's most likely what we'll end up doing once the final version of the mapchooser is ready. New custom maps to the rotation will only show up during prime time for a while (especially when admins are more likely to be present). If feedback is positive after a while, we'll add the map to the official rotation. If it's negative, we'll remove it and admins can decide to trigger a vote for it if they wish to give it another try.

Cool cool, can't wait to see it Plasma, and again maybe only for a certain amount of time so the server doesn't die when a bad map comes up and everyone wants to go back to the regular badwater and goldrush grind.
