A different type of server.
« on: March 03, 2012, 01:26:46 AM »
Just started playing here today and I really like the payload server. Instead of having a second payload server, why not make it a capture the flag or control point server? Just an idea as I think it will bring even more people into the community.

The second payload server actually was a rotation server up until about a month ago. It was usually empty, and when it wasn't, it was almost always on a payload map anyway. :D

Yeah a CP-only or a single-map server would probably be our next server.

Talking hypothetical here, what would it cost to sponsor a server?  I'd really like to play some CP maps under the Hyperion flag, and would potentially be willing to foot the bill to get it off the ground.  Even a 24/7 Dustbowl server would be fine.

Thoughts?

Payload is fine, but more variety in terms of map choice would make me happy.  Big fan on control point maps, though.

We're looking into switching one MvM server to another game mode. Let's say you guys were running this community. How would you set it up? What game mode would you run, how many players, fixed rotation or player vote, etc...

A few things to keep in mind. Server has to be quickplay enabled. That means no custom maps, no custom mods like Saxton Hale, Randomizer etc... (I'm not saying we're against custom maps all the time, it's just outside the scope of this discussion).

I'd be really interested to read your ideas.

Either Control Point or King of the Hill.  Most popular maps of course. 30 players. Map vote.  :)

I know dustbowl is a solid map, but what do you guys think of freight, badlands, fastlane, gorge, and coldfront?
