Server is down again

I understand there has been a couple(?) ddos attacks lately on the server, and just now (tues. night) we were on deplane and the whole server crashed and hasn't come back up. Was this another ddos attack or what's going on? would be nice to get some transparency on the issues as I don't know when I can play on Hyperion or for how long before an issue happens.

All downtime has been caused by ddos attacks this week.

I'm sorry I can't go into more details, but I'm expecting the attacks to continue.

are they coming from the same IPs from previous attacks? can you block them using a control list? idk where you're hosting but in AWS you can block using ACL's

Maybe one of the IT people that play on the server can help. I know some people offered in game to. A lot of us play here regularly together and donate.


If for some reason the server would to go down for good, I would be interested in finding somewhere else for us regulars to play together. A big part of why I like the server so much is the people who play there.

I understand you guys are angry, that's probably one of the attackers goals.
I can't give any details publicly, and while I appreciate your support, this situation cannot be resolved by simply blocking a couple of IPs.

Like I said, I'm expecting the attacks to continue. It sucks, but it might be better to play somewhere else this week.
For current donators, I'll think of something after this situation is over.

Hey Plasma! I know a lot of us here are in the I.T. industry and would love to help you out.

Maybe we could setup an Infrastructure Group that can collaborate to assist you with problems and help implement updates and improvements. Could a private Forum be added here for us to communicate privately with you?

I have experience in Azure, AWS and on-prem environments and spent MANY years as a sole sysadmin. Shouldering problems like this on your own Sucks! Not to mention bad for your mental health.

DDoS attacks suck. Totally senseless to do that. I hope that stops sooner rather than later. I might like to add some people from the server just to have the option to play with some people I know on a different server.

Plasma, altough you cant provide detail, is there a pattern in the time of the attack, time and day? Read if it random or when the server is mostly populated.

That could indicate somone that know well the server habits.
