At 9:30pm'ish this evening we started to notice the server hiccup. It was only noticable for a few players, so we waited it out. After 10 minutes, it became worse. We figured an update was being filtered to the server(s) and went to take a look.
Unfortunately, the issue is on the end of our provider, and the server room as a whole is being looked at by technicians.
At this time, I would kindly ask you keep checking this thread for updates as it will be kept up to date whenever we receive new information regarding our servers.
I personally apologize to everyone for this interruption, as we were having a most excellent Friday night gib-fest.

Update: 10:20pm
The server is currently accepting connections again. At this time, the connections appear stable.

Hi all, I'm LatchDaemon.
Chances are that most of you have burned, blown up, stabbed, sniped, or otherwise embarrassed me at least twice. That being said, playing on these servers is the most fun I have had playing TF2.
I like most classes, and will try to switch to a class where I think there is a need for someone.
Good to be playing with all of you.
Welcome Latch. Haven't played with you yet, looking forward to it.

It should be set that you view a team mate after you die, or simply an 'eagle eye' view of the map point where you died.
My settings are different than yours due to admin status so, I'll ask Dave or Plasma to take a look at it. Perhaps a setting was reversed after the update.

Welcome new comers! If you are not already a VM, but have applied, chances are you messed up somewhere on the application (most notably the Steam ID portion)

Dave has a plugin in development for this.
I personally stop what I am doing and join the server to rename and possibly ban users with inappropriate names. Yes, there are under age players and that's why we have the server rules. To be sure the server is playable for everyone.
However, this is me speaking personally as an admin, I would not force change a name for the word 'titties'. There are things you have to deal with while playing on the Internet with the rest of the world, and if a parent is concerned about words such as 'titties' or 'pussy' being used as a slang, they should moderate their children's use over the internet.
This is the same reasoning why game publishers do not release an ESRB for any online experiences.
We cannot moderate the server so heavily that people refuse to play on Hyperion. This is also why we allow mild cursing, just not towards other players used as a 'flame war'.

There was an error causing network instability which resulted in games not launching.
Restart Steam, it should be okay now.
There may be another patch later.

After tonight's patch, many users are unable to connect to any steam game or are hanging on Preparing to Launch...
According to the forums the patch has buggered up how Steam accepts user to the network. The normal 2.8million users on during prime time is now at 414,000. There is no known fix.
Stay tuned for updates.

We have a plugin on the server that changes the slots to 24 or 32 on the fly. If the server has emptied, it reverts back to 24 slots. Once X number of players is reached it changes the cvar back to 32. Dave or Plasma can comment more on it for you if they wish
