I wanted to bump this and see if we still have interest.  One of my main gripes about the original is 4 engies can put an end to point 1, and with the changes made to Pro4, it's so much more balanced.  Am also going to cross post in the Admin Lounge.

To answer your question on bandwidth more thoroughly, I'm using this site as my reference point.  Theoretically I could probably run a 24 man with far less frustration than a 32 man on a 6mb connection, however I've yet to see more than 2-4 people on my server at any given time so it's hard for me to tell.

Either way I am going to try and find some time to tweak some more this weekend, although 1/2 of saturday is already gone b/c I'm getting a tattoo colored in, so hopefully late Saturday or Sunday sometime... We'll see.

is 6mbit really enough for up? (not an expert, just curious)
According to other server operators, yes.

Don't worry about setting it up. I can give you the ftp info for my chicago competitive server and you can just copy/paste to your directory.

I'll have to hook up with you sometime over the weekend and talk about it.  Thanks!

Actually I would be interested in participating, but I can also offer up some hardware...

I have an i3 3220 on an ASRock EC304+ w/ 8GB DDR 800 running on a 60 GB SSD, internet pipe is 6mb/30mb up/down and the web address/IP for the server is really easy: sublimesounds.us

I've been looking for a bit of help on getting everything setup the way I want, but I'm having trouble since AlliedMods seems to have pruned all their old archives.

Let me know if I can help at all, I think this would cut down on costs since we wouldn't have to host another server.

General Discussion / Re: Who wants a Hyperion CP Server?
« on: February 12, 2014, 07:04:13 AM »
so question: there's 2 types of CP maps, the ones where you attack/defend. and ones where the CP goes back and forth. Are we talking about mixing them both or only attack/defend? What's your guys' interests?

I prefer the attack/defend, but I like a mix when I'm on a server with map rotation.  And again I gots to push mixing in a KOTH here and there! :D

I think I'm just a sucker for DemoKnight on Nucleus.... <3

What about mixing in KOTH maps?  Would it be possible to mix in some KOTH maps like Harvest, Nuecleus, King and Viaduct?  I know they are "King of the Hill" maps, but they are still, technically, control points!

:D

Grats Sandie! Awesome find!

Yeah this.  After 23 tours I still have only nabbed a few worthwhile Pro Fab kits, no gold items.  Still have about 40 tickets left to burn through though, so here is hoping on tours to come!

Add me if you are looking for more people to MvM with, I have about 20 on my friends list and I play right around 1 tour/night.

I find it crazy that some of you have gotten 2 gold items and are under 20 tours... Technically you shouldn't even get another Pro Fab kit for another 20+ tours!  But I'm not wishing that on anybody, I'm just sayin! :)

I want to add that this is my Strange Professional Killstreak Pomson, so I can't see why you couldn't make a Collector's Pomson into a Strange Collector's Pomson with the respective Strangifier.

The chemistry sets work as an [INPUT]=[OUTPUT] scenario where you get the output after the input criteria is met.  Theoretically I think you could apply the strangifier for the Pomson to a Collector's grade Pomson, but I'm not completely certain.  From there I know you can add a Pro/Specialized kit to the item.

I don't see a lot of value in the "Collector's" grade items because they are not strange, and really I only see Strange items as being worth something when a Pro/Specialized kit is attached.  It's just my person POV, but I think the stat tracking was one of the best things they have done for TF2.  The collector's stuff seems like a step sideways, something that people with lots of loot may pursue, but the average person has next to no desire for.

Add me if you want some more people for MvM.  I'm on my 24+ tour for 2 cities and can play all main classes.

If you add me shoot me a msg that says MvM or something so I know why.  I've gotten a lot of kids adding me lately for no apparent reason.

Hello Hyperion Gamers,

My name is Justin and my online handle is l0ckd0wn.  I've been a long time Steam member (9+ years now) and have numerous games on Steam of many a variety.  I've been playing TF2 since 2007 and had played CS since it was in it's beta years since 2000 although I rarely play CS anymore.  I'm 31 and a Network Systems Engineer by day, working for a a marine terminal in the Port of LA.  I tend to play very late at night due to my work schedule (5pm-2am) and am on most weekend evenings as well.  I play a host of other games including Terraria (host my own servers too), Civ V, BF3, CS:S/GO, lots of different casual and indie games, all the Elder Scrolls games (as far back as Daggerfall), XCOM and other strategy games.

When I'm playing TF2 I normally play Payload although I enjoy all game modes and really like MvM when I can get a good team together.  My favorite classes are Medic, Soldier, Demoman & Engineer and my current favorite maps for Payload are Repository, Swiftwater & Cashworks.  I'm an awful sniper, terrible spy but can and will play any class which needs filling.  I'm normally available on Steam most of the day and night through chat and am a huge fan of strawberry shortcake, the dessert, not the cartoon.

PS.
The cake is a lie, strawberry shortcake is forever!

Full Rotation Server / Rotation/Votation Suggestion
« on: November 11, 2013, 11:24:36 PM »
One thing I'd like to see is limiting the votation to only maps that have not been played in the last 2 map changes, i.e. if the server just played badwater and is currently on goldrush; badwater wouldn't be available until 1 more map is played and goldrush wouldn't be available until 2 more maps are played.

Just something I've noticed as lately the rotation ends up being a mix of Badwater/Goldrush/Upwards.  Frontier, Beerbowl, Cashworks, Everest (version 4 IIRC), Hoodoo are all good maps that need more rotation and play, IMO.

Payload Server / Re: Scramble...
« on: November 11, 2013, 11:19:06 PM »
I don't know if multiple game modes would work for HG, the Payloads are the one reason I always come back to HG late at night; they always have people in them.

When you start mixing game modes you tend to lose the random pubbers that stay on for just Payload, or CTF or CP.  Generally speaking, (IMO) most TF2ers play to the game mode they like the best and selectively go elsewhere when they want a change.
