Hmm I'm getting a couple of people complaining the server kicks them out when the map changes and they don't have the map. I think some of enforcer's friends were like that before, I wonder what causes that.
I've observed that even dustbowl can't sustain it if it gets too late. The server is just too new I think. Just have to give it more time to develop it's own regulars and stuff.
I think a lot of us really expect it to be active like the PL server is. But let's try to be realistic and remember that the PL server took years to get to that state. I think we're doing good for a new server that's only been out a couple of weeks, especially with quickplay being pushed to the side by valve.
I don't know how many more official maps we can remove. We already took out steel, gravelpit, egypt, junction. Once we add the voting system (soon, maybe tomorrow) it'll be better I think.
@Nico hehe there's too many 24/7 dustbowl already.
edit: - removed CaveIn as that's a 5CP map - removed Jinx as the textures have not been optimized, sudden huge decrease in fps in some angles, also map is very convoluted and confusing.
With only dustbowl, gorge and mountainlab it gets somewhat boring. Unfortunately the other official maps (Gravelpit, Egypt, Steel, Junction) makes it hard to keep the server full during the day, and usually empties out the server /sigh. But soon we will be testing out new custom attack/defense maps!
We won't be adding 5CP maps for now as the player-type is really different for 5CP vs A/D. With 5CP you have to both attack and defend, and the rounds are slower and longer (10mins everytime a point is capped). This is the same reason why people who play PL also do not like PLR maps. 5CP is just a category for a different type of playerbase--which we would like to tap into--someday...
So here are some interesting Attack/Defense maps, post your own suggestions as well. and dont forget to vote!!!
I've heard from some ppl that it only get's fixed after the map change. But I've observed that some people were still connecting while that other person was still getting an error. Maybe the error is client based?
I'll mention it to phasma. Currently we changed the weights last night and for each map it is as follows (3 is the baseline), also added (CP) and (A/D) on the names: "display" "Dustbowl (A/D)" "weight" "5" "display" "Coldfront (CP)" "weight" "5" "display" "Gorge (A/D)" "weight" "5" "display" "Gravelpit (A/D)" "weight" "1" "display" "Steel (A/D)" "weight" "2" "display" "Egypt_Final (A/D)" "weight" "1" "display" "Junction_Final (A/D)" "weight" "3" "display" "MountainLab (A/D)" "weight" "3" "display" "5 Gorge (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Badlands (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Fastlane (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Freight_Final1 (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Granary (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Well (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Yukon_Final (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Foundry (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Gullywash_Final1 (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Process_Final (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Standin_Final (CP)" "weight" "3" "display" "Snakewater_Final1 (CP)" "weight" "3"
Our main objective right now is to prioritize maps that people will play on. Also 4 other maps needs to run before the same one can be played again. When the server is more stable, i.e., we don't need to run popular maps often, we can increase that number to 6 or 8 so we get a really good rotation.
We'll add some weights to more popular maps vs the more common/really old/less interesting maps, like dustbowl and egypt. I really liked the coldfront one. I've noticed people leaving in the beginning of some of the really old maps.
We can probably make it so it doesn't appear on the mapvote options as often.
Also we're observing the interaction and influence of quickplay priority before we start adding custom maps. --via sm_connectmethod. So far in a good game there's only about 1 or 2 quickplay players. But when the server is hovering around under 20 players there's about 4-8.
We're constantly tweaking, so input about how the CP server is doing would be great.
Yes it was set to sv_pure 2 recently because it was left on sv_pure 0 for awhile due to a problem with sv_pure 1. We are currently working on adapting an sv_pure 1 with a UGC whitelist variant.
We are currently working on a few other server settings and plug-ins. We appreciate your patience until we can get this fixed.
i bought the cheap seiki one. I would wait tho, seiki is releasing an hdmi 2.0 version in Q2 2014. it'll be able to do full 4k in 60hz. MSRP for 55 inch is $1299. I'm sure amazon will sell it for about $1000-$1200.
