General Discussion / Re: Verified Member form won't accept my Steam ID
« on: November 03, 2018, 11:53:19 PM »
Hi Paulthagerous,
Sorry about that, but unfortunately, our VM registration script is broken, so I have to do these manually.
I've added your SteamID to our VM database, so you should be all set.
Welcome and see you in-game!

PS: For anyone else reading this post that would like to become a VM as well, please send me a PM or email with all the requested information.
ie: Your SteamID, and make sure to have an account here, and make at least one post.

Yes, the servers are still online. On the main page, you can see the current status of both TF2 servers, and one out of 4 KF2 servers.

Just to let everyone know, we don't have an "official" server, so we're not managing the one above (no donator privileges, etc...)

Servers Feedback / Re: My problem?
« on: May 23, 2018, 11:25:34 AM »
Hmm, do you remember your usual average ping on the server before you've been having high ping issues?
The server is set up to check and kick players with ping higher than 220ms for longer than a minute.

You can try to run a trace route between you and our server, and maybe we can see where/if any there's a major delay, that wasn't there before. As I said, sometimes, there are some slow downs on different network sections between your location and the server.

It's not on our end though, as you're the only one that has reported a high ping issue lately (and I've checked connectivity, network performance, etc...).

Around what time do you usually play (server time)? I'd say, try to ping/tracert again, and if all else fails, and your ping is still between 150-250ms, we'll figure something out in a few days. Is that OK?

Nothing changed on our end.
You can try pinging the server, and report back here. Sometimes there can be some issues on different ISPs and networks between your PC and our server. If you've been playing for a long time, then I'm thinking it's probably only a temporary issue. Let me know if you're still having high ping.

Server was down for a few hours on Saturday night because of a DDoS attack.
Sorry about that.

Hey Laughing Mary,
If you were forced wanted to make a VM account, make sure to complete this form:
http://hyperiongaming.org/index.php?page=page3457
and click submit. I'll add your SteamID to our Verified Member database afterwards.

And welcome ;)

No, I don't see your SteamID on the VM list.
You need to go to this page: http://hyperiongaming.org/index.php?page=page3457
and submit it with the required information.

Here's the post with all the instructions.
http://hyperiongaming.org/index.php?page=page3457

If you were a VM in the past, that means you had another forum profile here.
You can PM me your SteamID and I can check. Otherwise just follow the instructions above.

Payload Server / Re: VERY HARD TO JOIN SERVER
« on: May 18, 2017, 05:19:03 PM »
All our donators usually play during prime time, so it is quite difficult to join it's true. And the way the reserved slots system work (without completely closing 2 slots for donators -- and even then, that has its own issues), auto-join doesn't work well (again, during prime time).

I recommend trying to register for a Verified Membership, as the system tries to avoid kicking VMs first when donators join a full server. It doesn't mean auto-join will let you join during prime time, but it could help.

Suggestions / Re: verification questions are RIDICULOUS
« on: May 18, 2017, 05:14:45 PM »
Yea, sorry about the awful Captcha, the good news is that you dont have to worry about them after 2 posts, so you're safe now :)

Unfortunately, we get hit pretty frequently by a lot of spam bots, and they're "smart" enough to pass a lot of the images included in SMF (the forum software we're using). I don't plan on using a newer forum software, so these CAPTCHA are the only spam defense we've got.

As for the question which requires STEAM as the answer, thank you, there was a mistake, which I corrected. It should now be working properly.

Hey sealedinterface,

Welcome and yes, sadly, we get hit by a lot of bots from time to time. I have to change questions frequently. You should get less CAPTCHA after a few posts.

There are way better anti-spam systems obviously, but these forums are quite old, and there's no real need to rebuild from scratch.

It's been a while since my last post here in this thread, but welcome to everybody :)

Payload Server / Re: Bots
« on: August 04, 2016, 09:05:32 PM »
A lot of servers use bots when they're empty, this isn't new. That said, I'm personally not a fan of them, but it doesn't hurt to try for a while and see if they actually decrease traffic.

Now the reason bots were added was because a lot of people are bored trying to fill the server. As you mentioned, I don't play TF2 anymore, so I'm not one of these people that have to wait sometimes for an hour to get the server started. And it's usually the same people every day that help getting things started. I've idled on "my" server for probably weeks all counted together, and it was really boring. And it was easier too back then, since Valve has made a lot of changes against community servers these past 2 years.

Overall, thank you for your feedback, bots will remain for a bit longer until I get more data.

Yes, you can with the Server Browser like DrQuantum said. Or you can connect via the console:
connect serverip:serverport

In our Payload server case:
connect 66.151.138.182:27015

Or simply use this link:
steam://connect/66.151.138.182:27015

(You can click the link above the servers gametracker banner on our main page as well, it will launch TF2 and connect to the servers)
